More Information
Earthenware jars with simple forms, unadorned surfaces, and fire markings continued to be made in Japan for centuries following the Yayoi period, even after the advent of high-fired, less porous ceramics. An example is this reddish jar, which superficially resembles a Yayoi ceramic but was likely produced during the eighth century.
