BiographyA native of Fujian province, Huang was a scholar, a painter, and president of the Board of Rites during the final years of the Ming dynasty. He was imprisoned by the Manchus in 1644 and executed two years later. He is remembered as a faithful minister who gave his life for his country and in defense of his honor.
