More Information
This covered bowl made of purple jadeite with green inclusions and veining is raised on a circular foot with a double band of high-relief lappets (or cabochons) that constricts and swells again to form the pedestal base. The body and the stepped-dome lid are decorated with three low-relief bands of scrolling hibiscus flowers and foliage. Loose rings hang from the two foliate-form handles. Another band of lappets rings the top of the lid, which is surmounted by a large lotus bud finial.
