More InformationThis kind of shallow dish was developed by Song potters for planting bulbs such as the narcissus. The flowers were used to decorate the imperial palace. Resting on “cloud head” legs, this basin was decorated with raised round ornaments beneath the rim and on the lower portion, much like metal drums of an earlier period.
