Not on viewWorking across many art mediums, including painting, photography, video, and installation, Zhang Jian-Jun creates works that explore themes of existence, time, and space. This ink painting on paper combines aspects of traditional Chinese painting and Western abstraction. Citing classic Daoist texts as inspiration, Zhang says that he leaves room for viewers to contemplate his abstract compositions. An art professor at New York University, the artist lives in both New York and Shanghai.
