More InformationThe shore of Hong Kong Bay has changed dramatically since Chang painted this view looking out at the ocean. Between the two rocks in the foreground are the boats of fishermen returning home at the end of the day, the most distant boats disappearing into the background as if into the ocean itself. For the boats Chang applied a series of short, thick, nearly straight lines with a brush that had little ink on it. As a result the grays in the background are visible through the ink strokes.
