More Information

The city of Dvaraka shone splendidly with flags, with a wonderful variety of garlands, cloths, and ornamental arches decorated with jewels, provided with auspicious arrangement at every door of pitchers full of water, incense burning and lamps. Its streets were besprinkled with the exuded perfume of elephants of the great kings invited for the marriage, and entrances beautified with tall plantain trees and areca nut trees. Hearing the episode of Krishna's carrying away Rukmini sung by the people everywhere, kings and princes who attended the marriage became extremely wonderstruck. Great was the exultation among the citizens of Dvaraka to see Krishna, the Lord, now married to Rukmini, who was none other than the goddess Lakshmi herself.
