Zhu Jizuo

A native of Putian, Fujian province, Zhu earned the highest degree in the imperial exams in 1619 and served the Ming court as Hanlin Bachelor and the highest Right Attendant at the Bureau of Ceremonies. His widespread reputation was based not only on his gifts for poetry and calligraphy but also on his easygoing, friendly personality.
