More Information
The name of a seventeenth-century porcelain maker, Kakiemon, is also used to designate the style of enamel decoration developed and carried on by his family, now in its fourteenth generation. The training Kakiemon XIV received in college as a Japanese-style painter served him in decorating this vessel with bountiful blossoms that seem to echo nature in their rhythmic composition.
