More Information
The mizusashi, which holds cold water used to refill the kettle, is the first utensil carried into the tearoom by the host, so it is the object of much scrutiny by guests at a tea gathering. This Korean-inspired jar from one of the Takatori kilns in the island of Kyushu is coated with a mottled blue-white straw ash glaze. Its small, compact shape makes it appropriate for the coldest days of the year.
