The plum blossom (meihua) has many associations. It is a symbol of perseverance and purity. As the first flower to bloom each year, it represents renewal and heralds spring. In addition, the five petals of the plum blossom represent the Five Blessings of old age, wealth, health, love of virtue, and a peaceful death.
