A follower of painting traditions active in Suzhou and Nanjing, Wu Bin here depicted a landscape of scholars and pavilions amid wooded mountains shrouded in fanciful clouds. The muted shades of green and blue and the surface patterns of the rocks and trees show Wu's interest in certain styles of painting masters of previous dynasties.
