Not on viewIn hot weather, tea practitioners often choose shallow tea bowls to dissipate the heat of the tea as their guests drink. Ashes from a wood fire fell onto this tea bowl and were transformed by high heat into a glassy green glaze. The irregular shape of the tea bowl also seems spontaneous, but in fact it is carefully considered, with a shape that fits comfortably into two hands and a smooth lip for drinking.
