InscribedA Chinese man from Canton called Lo Shen (Rasen) who came on the American ships. Because this man was on the ship, communication could be done through writing. He is also said to have served as a Chinese interpreter. This picture shows him wandering around Shimoda asking about prices, negotiating about the value, and making purchases.
