More Information
This man's robe, a type called chogha, is a longsleeved and open-fronted outer garment worn in many parts of India, especially after the 1850s. Choghas were worn by notables at a court, as was the case for this robe, whose original owner was first the royal physician and later chief minister of the Sikh kingdom of Nabha.
