On View
Not on viewIn contrast to [F2009.58.4], this one resembles those used by professional troupes in Mandalay. Its features are carved and painted with considerable delicacy, it has human hair, and it is constructed with the very broad thighs widely separated on the pelvis that are characteristic of classical Mandalay puppets. The garments are in poor condition. Though they are extremely faded, it appears that the upper garment, of silk crepe, was originally blue, and the lower garment a range of rich purples.
