Not on viewPeople from China have been coming to Thailand to trade or do business for many centuries. Some have settled down, learned to speak Thai, taken Thai names, married Thai spouses, and become, to a greater or lesser degree, "Thai." The shapes of this urn and its tiered lid are traditional in Thailand and seem characteristically Thai. Interestingly, though, the silversmith was ethnically Chinese, as is suggested by the Chinese hallmark stamped on the bottom of the vessel. The hallmark reads "Tan Yuehe," which was probably the name of the silversmith's shop.
