More Information
Parvati is the consort of the Hindu god Shiva. As indicated by her stance and hand gestures, the goddess is dancing. Such dancing figures are rare. This sculpture was once paired with a dancing Shiva, whose image was stolen from the crate before it reached San Francisco.
