Kelsang Gyatso (1708-1757) the Seventh Dalai Lama, was a great leader, author and teacher. Sitting on a throne draped with a white scarf, he carries a lotus blossom and a book.

Surrounding him are the Eighty-four Mahasiddhas, Indian teachers who brought Tantric Buddhism to Tibet, and enlightened beings with great occult powers. For example, the lower left hand corner depicts Tantipa, the senile weaver. He became enlightened due to his fatih and devotion to his guru.

Nagajuna, a great saint and teacher, appears above the Dalai Lama. The guardian Yama, the lama's special protector, is shown below.
