More Information

The Hindu deity Vishnu, shwon with his consort Lakshmi in most parts of India, is often depicted in the company of two consorts, both Lakshmi (also known as Shri) and Bhu. Shri is the Hindu goddess of wealth and good fortune.

Bhu, the personification of the world, is the secondary consort of Vishnu. In Hindu texts, she frequently requires rescue from the Asuras (a group of power-seeking deities) and other threats. Vishnu's third incarnation, Varaha, in the form of a boar, retrieves her from the ocean on his tusks.
